General observations during the selfencounters
- One-on-one as the first selfencounter. Felt safer for the clients and they could get to know me and the form of therapy
- The ego is not included as a resonance element. The self is so split off that the giver of intention has no contact with it. When the self is missing, we have no internal reference point for our thoughts, feelings and our thinking (1)
- The difficulty of standing autonomously in the process. Challenging for many practice clients to choose their intention themselves
Reflection of the therapist role
To be patient and to face the unknown
Support the client in the process and keep a safe space
Give the intention giver enough space and do not intervene too early, trust the process's development and the self-regulation of the client's psyche
I will meet the client where she/he is today
Be present, have no expectations and keep within the framework of the client's intention
Reflection of the therapist role
My biggest challenge: knowing how much to intervene
The main question: What basic, existential needs did I have that were not being met?
During intervention, it is important that the person giving the intention does not simply repeat the sentence without making emotional contact
Guidance selfencounters: to raise awareness and process what I have encountered in myself in the meeting with the client
Self-therapy for my self-development: reduce the risk that the client may get stuck in the therapy where I myself get stuck in as a therapist or that I transfer something to the client
Reflection of the therapist role
The giver of intention must be able to decide how far she/he wants to go
We can only resolve the consequences of the traumatization when we ourselves have the authority to deal with what happened
Do not define what the client has experienced
If I want to push something forward, it's my own survival
Human psyches are the self-regulators: Self-regulation starts with the giver of the intention choosing who she/he wants to talk to out of the parts and choosing the intention herself
Reflection of the therapist role
Good understanding of and be confident in the theory
We must first be able to acknowledge what we have experienced and the consequences of it, before we can get in touch with our deep split feelings
In order for us to get in touch with these deep feelings, we must first acknowledge what we had needed (our existential needs)
Do not over explain the theory to the client
